The hands behind Mon-a Brand.

Located along the picturesque Surf Coast of Victoria, Mona - The Uncommon Thread is my passion project aimed at rekindling the lost arts of spinning wool, knitting, and crochet. These crafts, passed down to me by my grandmother, aunt, and mother from the age of 10, have been a cherished part of my life for many years. Without giving away my age, I can confidently say my love for these crafts has only deepened over time.

Over the years, my craft has expanded to include spinning my own yarn, sourced from local farms, and curating other exciting fibers and products to complement my creations. I am passionate about the process and love speaking with farmers about the intricacies of their craft. In fact, I’ve even had the opportunity to step into a shearing shed or two to lend a hand.

Each piece of my knitwear is handmade with love and dedication, under the watchful eyes of my fur babies, Baxter and Taki, who often make guest appearances on my social media for a touch of cuteness (and sometimes offer their own creative contributions).

I take immense pride in the unique nature of my work. The process of knitting is an art form to me, and I believe there are no mistakes, only one-of-a-kind artistic creations. This philosophy shapes every piece I create, knowing each is special and cannot be replicated.
